Runs modeled from a scan rarely meet exactly. MEP Corner and MEP Tee connect pipes in Revit, and ducts and cable trays too: they extend or trim the runs and add the fitting.
Why connect pipes in Revit with these tools
Two clicks per connection. No dragging ends or trimming by hand.
Works when runs do not meet. If two runs are slightly offset, the second run is tilted to meet the first.
Pipes, ducts and cable trays. The fittings come from the routing preferences of each type.
MEP Corner (elbow)
Click MEP Corner (Zeta BIM tab › MEP).
Pick the first run, then the second run. Click on the part of each run you want to keep.
Both runs are extended or trimmed to their meeting point and an elbow is added.
Keep picking pairs, then press Esc.
MEP Tee (tee or tap)
Click MEP Tee (Zeta BIM tab › MEP).
Pick the main run, then the branch. Click on the part of the branch you want to keep.
The branch is extended or trimmed to the main run, the main run is split and a tee is added.
If the type prefers a tap, a tap is placed and the main run is not split.
Keep picking, then press Esc.
Good to know
If a fitting cannot be placed, for example no elbow or tee is set in the routing preferences, a message explains why.
When runs are offset, the far end of the second run or branch stays where it is; only the near end moves.
Model the runs first with Fit MEP, then connect them here.
