Plant rooms and ceilings are full of services, and tracing them by hand takes days. Fit MEP lets you model MEP from point cloud scans in Revit: click a run in the scan and the pipe, duct, cable tray or conduit is created at the fitted size and position.

Why model MEP from point cloud data
- Size and position from the scan. Diameters and duct sizes are fitted to the points, and the run is placed on its real axis.
- Standard sizes. Sizes can snap to the sizes defined for the pipe, duct, tray or conduit type in your project.
- Straight, tidy runs. Runs that are almost vertical, horizontal or on a project axis are straightened.
- All in one panel. Pipe, Duct, Cable Tray and Conduit are tabs of one dockable panel.
Before you start
- Link the point cloud and make sure the project has levels.
- Load the pipe, duct, tray and conduit types and systems you need.
- Click Fit MEP on the Zeta BIM tab and choose a tab.
Steps
- Choose the type and the system, for example Pipe Type and Pipe System.
- Choose the Pick mode:
- 1 click · auto: click one point on the run; its length is found.
- 2 clicks: pick the start and the end point.
- Click Create and click runs in the point cloud. Press Esc to finish.
Options by tab
| Tab |
Options |
| Pipe |
Pipe Type, Pipe System, Snap to standard size and diameter options. |
| Duct |
Shape (Round, Rectangular, Oval), Duct Type, Duct System and size options. |
| Cable Tray |
Cable Tray Type and Snap to standard width. |
| Conduit |
Conduit Type; sizes follow the conduit standard of the type. |
Placement and geometry
- Ref. Level: Auto uses the nearest level below the picked point.
- Axis regularization: align runs to Vertical, Horizontal or Project axes when they are within the angular tolerance. In plan, runs can also follow the direction of a straight grid line.
Good to know
- If the project has no duct type of the chosen shape, the panel asks you to load one and press ⟳ to reload.
- The type lists can be searched by typing.
- To connect runs afterwards, use MEP Corner / MEP Tee.
