ZetaBIM Settings: Output Folder, Section Panels and Family Parameter Names

By

ZetaBIM Revit plugin settings

Most ZetaBIM tools work straight away. A few need to know your office standards, for example the parameter names in your door or beam families. This guide explains the ZetaBIM Revit plugin settings and when to change them.

ZetaBIM Revit plugin settings pages

Open the ZetaBIM Revit plugin settings

Click Settings on the Zeta BIM tab (Zeta BIM panel). Pick a page on the left. Settings are saved on your computer, so they stay when you update the plugin.

General: output folder

Tools that create files, such as Cloud Image, save them in an output folder:

  • Save next to the project file (default): a folder named "<Project> – <Tool>" next to the .rvt file.
  • Or save in this folder: choose a folder with Browse…; each project gets its own sub-folder.

Cross Section and Parallel Section

Turn on Enable the settings panel to see a dialog each time you run Cross Section or Parallel Section. There you choose the offset and a view template. With the panel off, the tools run in one click.

Beam and Column: parameter names for Fit Structure

Fit Structure sets the size of new beam and column types through their parameters.

Page Fields Example
Beam Width (parameter name), Height (parameter name) Width, W, b and Height, H, h
Column Width (parameter name), Depth (parameter name) Width, W, b and Depth, D, d

Door and Window: parameter names for Fit Arch

Fit Arch sizes doors and windows through their parameters.

Page Fields Example
Door Width (parameter name), Height (parameter name) Width, Rough Width, W
Window Width (parameter name), Height (parameter name) Height, Rough Height, H

If none of the names is found, the standard Revit Width and Height parameters are used.

How to enter parameter names

  • Type the names exactly as they appear in the family, including spaces and capitals.
  • Separate several names with commas. The first one found in the family is used, so one list can cover families from different sources.
  • When a family has none of the names, the tool tells you which names it looked for instead of creating a wrong size.
