Parallel Section: Section Along Walls, Beams and Pipes from Your Side

Parallel Section: Revit parallel section along walls and beams

To check a wall or a long beam against the scan, you need a section running along it. Parallel Section creates that Revit parallel section in one click, and it looks at the element from your side.

Parallel Section creates a Revit parallel section along an element

Why use a one-click Revit parallel section

  • Right side, every time. The section looks at the element from the side you see it in the current view, so you never get the back of the wall by mistake.
  • Aligned to the element. Angled walls and beams are no problem.
  • Clear view. The section sits just in front of the element and looks through it.

Steps

  1. Look at the element from the side you want to see, in a plan or 3D view.
  2. Click Parallel Section (Zeta BIM tab › Manager).
  3. Pick a wall, beam, pipe, duct or any element with a location line.
  4. The section view opens.

Optional settings dialog

Turn on the panel in Zeta BIM › Settings › Parallel Section to choose these each time:

Option What it does
Offset How far behind the element the section still shows.
View Template Template applied to the new section.

Good to know

  • Each run creates a new section view.
  • For a section across an element, use Cross Section.
  • Combine it with Cloud Image to get a sharp image of the facade in the new section.
